I N T R O D U C T I O N
Hi, I’m Lauren McBurney, a final-year BSc (Hons) Computer Science student at who loves solving big problems with data, cloud technology, and applied AI. I’m genuinely happiest when I’m experimenting with something new, like using new technology to build smart systems, or figuring out how to turn messy data into something that actually helps people make better decisions. I love blending my passion for technology with my other interests to create meaningful solutions in areas I truly connect with.
I’ve always been drawn to challenging work. I get a real spark from digging into complex engineering issues, or building tools that use machine learning in meaningful ways. But at the heart of everything I do is something bigger than the code itself.
I want to become one of the impactful leaders in technology one day, not just in terms of technical skill, but in influence, integrity, and representation of women. I’m always pushing myself to grow, learn, and stretch what I think I’m capable of. And a massive part of that ambition comes from wanting to create opportunities for others, especially women seeking their place in tech.
That’s why I founded Magee Women in STEM. I wanted to build a community where women could feel supported, confident, and connected. It has become one of the things I’m most proud of. I also co-host a tech podcast where I get to talk about emerging technologies, inspiring career journeys, and the people shaping the future of STEM. It’s a space where I can mix curiosity with conversation and help make tech feel a little more welcoming.
At my core, I’m someone who cares deeply about people, progress, and possibilities. I love the technical side of computing, but I also love the people, the communication, collaboration, and finding ways to make tech more human and more inclusive. I want to build a career where I can do both: contribute at a high technical level and help open doors for others along the way.
If you’re here to get to know me, that’s me in a nutshell. Curious. Driven. Ambitious. Always learning. And fully committed to growing and learning from every failure or setback, and from every person I meet, so that I can help a younger generation of women realise their potential.
